"The “fox slipper” story is a rooted in a blend of folklore and botanical history.. the name “Fox Glove” came from the legend of fairies giving the bell-shaped flowers to foxes to wear on their paws to muffle their steps, so they could silently slip into coops and steal chickens.. Many stories suggesting that disturbing the plant could anger the fairies.."
